
“Janjatiya Gaurav Divas” celebrated with gaiety and fervour at Kishtwar
Debate competition,Cultural items,Volleyball tournament and awareness activities presented by Students
KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 15:
Department of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar today hosted series of activities at various places of District Kishtwar Viz at Govt Model Hr. Sec. School Boys Kishtwar, Gujjar & Bakkarwal Hostel Chatroo and Govt Degree College Paddar to mark “JanJati Gorav Diwas” being held across the country to commemorate the contribution of Tribal Freedom Fighter Leader Birsa Munda.
During the programme at GHSS Boys Kishtwar and G&B Hostel Chatroo different activities including Debate, Symposium, Cultural items and awareness activities were presented.
In the Debate competition, scores of students participated besides cultural items based upon the unique traditional and Cultural elements of tribal society of district Kishtwar were presented by students to highlight the
enriched cultural fabric of ST society.
During the awareness programme various speakers urged people especially ST community to avail the benefits of dedicated schemes.
Later, All the participants were felicitated with citation certificates.
At GDC Paddar a special lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof Dr Jeevan Dhar to the staff and students of GDC Padder, highlighting the contribution of Birsa Munda as a social leader and freedom fighter besides A Volleyball tournament was also organised as a tribute to the great revolutionary leader Birsa Munda.
Pertinent to mention that Rashtriya JanJati Gorav Diwas is celebrated in the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters who showed immense courage and made supreme sacrifice so that coming generations know about them.Today is also the birth anniversary of Sri Birsa Munda who is revered as Bhagwan by tribal communities across the country and he fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial system.
