The two day iconic Kishtwar Cultural Festival after rejuvenating the cultural ethos of the region concluded on 15th Jul 2022.

As part of ongoing celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Indian Army along with Bharat Scouts and guide and local volunteers from Kishtwar, organised a cleanliness drive under “Swachh Chowgan Abhiyan” here at historical Chowgan ground.

The 165 acres big, beautiful & Majestic “CHOWGAN” endowed with a high degree of natural beauty has a historic significance and is also the symbol of peace and harmony for the people of the region.

The participants enthusiastically taking part in this drive collected the litter, trash and single used plastic from the ground and dumped it into designated dust bins for further disposal by concerned authorities.

The impact of the program will be multi – faceted, firstly, this activity will preserve the sanctity of the Chowgan ground and secondly help us provide subsistence and motivation to locals in generating awareness about the social cause. A sense of responsibility has been evoked among the people of Kishtwar through this cleanliness drive.

In the end a certificate of participation was awarded to the participants.The Army exhorted people to fulfil the Govt’s dream of a clean and hygienic India.

Kishtwar, 14th August.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kishtwar Sh. Ashok Sharma (JKAS) has extended his greeting to the people of UT of J&K in general and to the people of Kishtwar in particular on the eve of Independence Day-2022 Celebration.
He urges all to pay homage to freedom fighters who laid their life in the attaining the freedom for us and our coming generations.
"As we commemorate the completion of 75 years of our nation`s independence, let us remember and pay homage to the sacrifices of the many who delivered this much cherished independence to us," DC said.
He added "It is an occasion for us to renew our pledge to serve our nation with greater sincerity, commitment and truth, in all walks of life."
He further appealed to every citizen of Kishtwar to hoist the Tricolour on their houses on this 15th August as a token of love and respect for our freedom fighters under Har Ghar Tiranga initiative.
